Many châteaux dating from the Middle Ages to our times are sprinkled across the Chalon countryside.

There are 189 châteaux in Saône and Loire (mediaeval fortresses, Renaissance châteaux, gentlemen’s residences and châteaux of the last century, and 17 of them are presented along the Châteaux Route of South Burgundy.
